This photo was taken next to my house, in the mountains. Spending so much time in nature has shown me the direct relationship of soil, roots, fungi, incest, plants and this piece that moves me is that idea that the skin is a thin border that "separates" us from that totality that occurs around us . Symbiotic Mutualism is the healthy interaction between organisms of different species. We are the cusp of this totality capable of modeling it, tame it, but where we are not able to connect with something as basic as the environment It sustains us, not the other way around, and that freak me out.
It is also inspired by the research of my Chilean biologist friend Tomás Egaña who works in the research and production of photosynthetic skin.
I forgot to say about this piece is that was inspired by Sally Mann "Body Farm" serie, this series blow up my mind thinking about the body transformation, melting into the ground again. My way is more poetic, not so brutal. Also is a body alive, so the melting with everything is with the mind and heart.
-Thecnical details: The fabric was woven here in Chile by a craftman, and the embroidery was made by me (I never sent it to my mother for help). All is 100% cotton, so if you don't like it, you can compost it and it will be eaten by worms - hahahaha.
